Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with core competencies in research methodology in the healthcare field, focusing on sample definition, biological variability, phases of clinical trials, and key concepts such as randomization and confounding factors. It also introduces digital resources and the principles of Evidence-Based Medicine, equipping students with the tools to classify scientific literature and independently carry out literature searches based on clinically oriented questions.
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
Understand and describe the concepts of sample selection, biological variability, and main study designs.
Identify key ethical and methodological issues in clinical trials.
Understand the role of randomization and confounding factors in study validity.
Use digital resources and databases to retrieve relevant scientific evidence.
Develop a structured literature search on PubMed based on clinically driven questions formulated according to EBM principles.
