Learning objectives
The lab will provide students with the opportunity to acquire the tools needed to write a research thesis, with a particular focus on how to address a research question using data. Students will first learn how to begin working on their thesis, including reviewing related literature, managing references, structure of a thesis. The focus will then shift to data-related aspects, such as the design and implementation of surveys and the introduction to key financial and economic datasets. Practical sessions in Stata or R will include applications related to innovation management and entrepreneurship.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the Lab, students will be able to identify to write a research thesis including an empirical analyses. They will learn how to design and implement a survey. They will familiarize with the main financial and economic data used in empirical analysis. They will also learn how to build a dataset from multiple data sources to enable statistical and econometric analysis. Finally, students will develop some skills in using statistical software.
