Learning objectives
Understand the processes that lead to the formation of sedimentary rocks and acquire knowledge regarding the basic principles of stratigraphy. Understand the processes of fossilization. Know the main groups of invertebrate organisms that can be used in paleontology, also from an educational perspective.
Expected learning outcomes
Ability to recognize the main groups of sedimentary rocks and to apply the principles of stratigraphy. Ability to recognize the processes and stages of the transition from the biosphere to the lithosphere of the organic remains of the main animal groups that contribute to the understanding of biological evolution. Ability to recognize the main groups of fossil invertebrates. Ability to disseminate the acquired knowledge regarding sedimentary processes and fossilization.
