Learning objectives
Graduates in Psychiatric Rehabilitation Techniques must demonstrate the ability to apply acquired knowledge and transform it into practical skills in the following areas:
· Integrate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of rehabilitation to deliver appropriate, effective, and evidence-based interventions;
· Identify individual needs according to the relevant conceptual model and apply the psychiatric rehabilitation process;
· Assess epidemiological data and understand its use in promoting health and preventing disease in individuals and communities;
· Appropriately use methodologies aimed at information, instruction, and health education;
· Recognize major behavioral alterations and subjective experiences;
· Analyze and respond to care needs, evaluating the balance between benefits, risks, and costs, in light of evidence-based psychiatric rehabilitation principles;
· Address ethical and deontological issues arising in the care and assistance of individuals with responsibility and professionalism;
· Critically evaluate rehabilitation actions within the healthcare team with a focus on quality improvement;
· Respond to individual needs and implement the psychiatric rehabilitation process in relation to different clinical conditions;
· Develop specific rehabilitation plans based on the identification of needs in cases of complex care situations;
· Intervene promptly in clinical emergencies, applying, within their scope of competence, the necessary first-line interventions;
· Contribute to the organization of psychiatric rehabilitation activities by defining priorities and appropriately allocating available resources, delegating tasks to team members, and ensuring continuity and quality of care;
· Develop an interdisciplinary and cross-cultural approach, collaborating with other healthcare professionals and deepening the understanding of group dynamics and teamwork principles;
· Foster a practical and engaged approach to the socio-health issues of diverse communities, also through direct experiences;
· Carry out rehabilitative and educational interventions with individuals with psychiatric disabilities as part of a therapeutic project developed by a multidisciplinary team;
· Contribute to the assessment of psychiatric disability and the individual's potential;
· Analyze the individual's needs and developmental demands;
· Evaluate the resources within the family and social environment;
· Collaborate in identifying training, therapeutic, and psychiatric rehabilitation goals;
· Formulate targeted intervention programs aimed at the recovery and development of the individual in treatment;
· Implement habilitation/rehabilitation interventions concerning self-care, daily living activities, interpersonal relationships, and, where possible, work-related activities;
· Carry out primary prevention initiatives in the community to promote networking and the management of individuals at risk of developing mental disorders;
· Intervene with families and social environments to support reintegration into the community;
· Collaborate in the assessment of rehabilitation outcomes in individuals in relation to the pre-established goals;
· Participate in the planning and implementation of rehabilitation interventions using goal-oriented care planning methods across developmental stages: pediatric, adult, and geriatric;
· Demonstrate experience in independent study, lifelong learning, literature review and scientific updating, including the ability to critically read scientific articles;
· Apply psychiatric rehabilitation research tools and methodologies.
During the three-year program, graduates in Psychiatric Rehabilitation Techniques must demonstrate a progressive acquisition of independent judgment, through the following competencies:
· Apply rehabilitation techniques while recognizing and respecting the dignity, culture, values, and rights of individuals and groups;
· Integrate knowledge of cultural diversity, legal aspects, and ethical principles into the planning and delivery of rehabilitation services across various healthcare settings;
· Analyze directives and operational practices within social and healthcare services and identify appropriate actions, considering legal, political, geographic, economic, ethical, and social influences;
· Develop increasing professional, decision-making, and operational autonomy through an educational path characterized by a holistic approach to health issues, including environmental (chemical-physical), biological, and social factors;
· Use critical thinking skills to deliver effective rehabilitation services to individuals across the lifespan and within different community-based care services;
· Take responsibility for and be accountable for their professional actions in accordance with their professional profile, the code of ethics, and relevant legal and ethical standards;
· Recognize the roles and responsibilities of other professional figures within the healthcare team with whom they interact.
Expected learning outcomes
Demonstrate to have acquired the ability to implement rehabilitation interventions aimed at self-care, adherence to the care project, interpersonal relationships, of various complexities, to the work activity and to housing autonomy. Demonstrate to have acquired effective and adequate capacity for relationship and communication with the patient and family members.
