I partecipanti saranno in grado di orientarsi tra le principali forme della popular music registrata e di ricondurre le opere di sound art ai diversi approcci emersi storicamente in tale ambito. Impareranno le tecniche base del montaggio audio e avranno modo di cimentarsi in attività pratiche di selezione e curatela artistico-sonora.
Expected learning outcomes
Participants will be able to navigate the main forms of recorded popular music and relate sound art works to the different historical approaches that have emerged in this field. They will learn the basic techniques of audio editing and have the opportunity to engage in practical activities of selection and artistic-sound curatorship.

The workshop consists of ten sessions. Attendance is compulsory.
Participants are encouraged to attend the musical performance The Horse by Matthew Herbert, which will take place on 20 November at 7.30pm at the Triennale di Milano, as well as the audiovisual concert by Johnny Jewel, which will take place on 1 December at 9.30pm. Discounted tickets will be available where possible. Further information will be provided during the first month of classes.

Prerequisites for admission
The class is in Italian - No prerequisites are required other than a general knowledge of major popular music genres, including electronic music, and an interest in sound practices in the arts.

Teaching methods
The class is in Italian - Each lesson includes the presentation of sound recordings and audio/video materials. Students will be assigned articles and short texts to read before each lesson and to present briefly (in turn) in class, answering questions prepared by other students.
Teaching Resources
Texts and reference materials will be provided by the teacher during the course of the lessons.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The final meetings will be dedicated to the presentation of individual and/or group projects on topics agreed upon in advance with the instructor. The project may involve artistic curation (selection and discussion of sound art works united by a common theme), sound editing, or musical curation with the compilation of a playlist or mixtape. All choices shall be explained and commented on during the final presentation.
