Teaching Workshop: Theory and Techniques of Bibliographical Cataloging in the Computerized Environment

Introduction to the use of bibliographic cataloging techniques
Knowledge of the main tools and softwares in use for the management of cataloging procedures.

At the end of the teaching workshop, the student learned about the international and national standards of cataloging paper resources: he knows where to find them and how to use them. Through the lessons he learned to perform a basic cataloging of the resource and to accompany it with the relative access points for the correct retrieval in the catalog. The possibility of having a computerized environment allowed him to practice with software in use in libraries on the management of cataloging procedures and therefore be able to face a first work experience.
