Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleontology for Paleontological Museography

Learning objectives
The course is planned to illustrate the scientific, museological, and commercial significance of the main types of fossils. The objectives are achieved by demonstrating the influence of the frequency of fossils in nature, the challenges of excavation and collection, and the complexities of preparation. The course includes a specific section on vertebrates and one on invertebrates, as well as a section illustrating the organization of the Natural History Museum of Milan, with examples of real solutions in paleontological museology.
Expected learning outcomes
Ability to distinguish between vertebrate and invertebrate fossils. Ability to understand the meaning of a fossil. Ability to organize a paleontological preparation laboratory. Knowledge of the structure and organization of a Museum.
