Course syllabus
· Bedside Examination: rationale and setup of the test battery.
· The study of eye movements: smooth pursuit, saccadic movements, optokinetic nystagmus, spontaneous, positional, and positioning nystagmus.
· Nystagmus observation techniques: from the removal of visual fixation (Frenzel goggles) to recording via video-oculoscopy and videonystagmography (VNG).
· Video-Head Impulse Test (vHIT).
· Caloric tests.
· Rotational tests: technical principles of kinetic stimulation on a rotary chair, study of the VOR at low frequencies, and analysis of gain, phase, and symmetry.
· Case discussions.
