Learning objectives
- Acquisition of knowledge on the structure of tissues, organs and systems in normal conditions with particular reference to the auditory system.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student will be able to: Know in depth the anatomical organization, the topography and the structure of the organs of the human body, analytically described the organization of each organ and its relationships. the student will be able to classify the different tissues on the basis of the acquired knowledge and relative to the characteristics of the cellular and extracellular component. The student will also be able to describe the features of the various tissues' set-up relating to their structure and their anatomical location.

No specific prerequisites are required.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The examination consists of a written test with multiple-choice questions.
Each correct answer is assigned a score; the sum of the scores obtained determines the final grade, expressed on a 30-point scale.
No midterm tests or preliminary examinations are scheduled.
During the examination, the use of supporting materials (dictionaries, textbooks, electronic devices, or any other teaching materials) is not permitted.

Histology
Course syllabus
-The eukaryotic cell: structure, organization, and function of the main intracellular compartments. Tissues: definition and classification. Histological techniques: general introduction, sample preparation, main histological staining methods, and basic principles for identifying tissues with different composition.

-Epithelial tissues: overview, function, classification. Lining epithelia, glandular epithelia, sensory epithelia.

-Connective tissues: general features, function, composition, classification. Proper connective tissue, adipose tissue, cartilage.

-Bone tissue: functions, composition, classification. Ossification processes. Blood and lymphoid tissue

-Muscle tissue: overview, functions, classification. Skeletal striated muscle, cardiac muscle, smooth muscle. Nervous tissue: general features, functions and properties. Neurons and their classification. Synapses, nerve fibers, glial cells.
