The theoretical and methodological foundations of corpus-based analysis will be examined; students will be introduced to corpus construction methods; the main Italian corpora will be presented; and their impact in various fields of linguistics will be demonstrated.
Expected learning outcomes
Students will acquire knowledge regarding the various types of existing Italian corpora, the software available for conducting searches within them, the types of queries, and certain methodologies for the quantitative analysis of extracted data.
By the end of the course, students should be able to apply this knowledge to the analysis of case studies, demonstrating critical judgment in selecting data, choosing the appropriate statistical methods, and discussing the results.
