Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with basic knowledge (i) about the mineralogy and genesis of the main minerals used as gemstones; (ii) about the operating principles of the physical and optical techniques used for gemstone identification.
Expected learning outcomes
Ability to identify and characterize the main types of gem-quality minerals through physical and optical investigation techniques.
