Lab Labour Law and Ai (Artificial Intelligence)
A.Y. 2026/2027
Learning objectives
Starting with an overview of the first known applications of these technologies, the workshop aims to provide knowledge, skills and abilities relating to the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on human resource management in the healthcare sector, and the labour law implications of their adoption (e.g. permitted and prohibited uses; procedures for introduction into the company).
Expected learning outcomes
Following the workshop, students will be able to assess which AI tools for human resource management or used for the work performance can be adopted in healthcare companies and to develop introduction paths and methods of use in line with the legal framework (e.g. mandatory collective bargaining, authorisation, right to information).
Lesson period: Third trimester
Assessment methods: Giudizio di approvazione

Prerequisites for admission
It is advisable to attend the workshop after attending the course on Law and Management of Human Resources in Companies in the Health Sector
Teaching methods
The workshop will be delivered in a hybrid format, with the option of participating in real time either in person or remotely. The teaching is workshop-based and requires the active involvement of students. During the lessons, there will be a mix of sessions where the lecturer provides an overview of the subject matter and sessions involving individual and/or group exercises (e.g. case-based exercises proposed by the lecturer, as well as the reading and analysis of judgments, collective agreements, or administrative practice documents, with a view to identifying relevant issues concerning legal constraints and procedures relating to the introduction of new technologies in corporate contexts.).

The in-depth analysis of the specific implications of AI and algorithmic management will be developed in the presentations made available by the lecturer on Ariel after the classes.
Further optional readings will also be made available on the course website on Ariel.

Assessment methods and Criteria
Assessment of learning will take place throughout the course through the completion of an individual or group case-based exercise concerning the introduction of AI systems or algorithmic management in healthcare companies or the health sector and the completion of a final simulation on the same subject matter.. In particular, in order to receive a positive evaluation ('approved'), the candidate must demonstrate the ability to reason critically about the labour-law implications, in terms of legitimacy and procedures, relating to the adoption of technologies in the relevant contexts.
A condition for obtaining a positive assessment is attendance at 80% of the classes.
