Law and Literature
A.Y. 2026/2027
Learning objectives
The course aims to offer students a basic knowledge on the relationship between law and literature, through a path that starts from its ancient roots and develops up to contemporary culture. The course also aims to deepen some socially and politically current issues such as gender/sexuality, migratory experiences and job precariousness through some literary texts. The aim is therefore to offer the opportunity to deepen the capacity of literature to critically represent the world we inhabit.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will know the main characteristics of law and literature studies, their aims and their current applications both in the legal and literary fields; they will be able to identify some recurring characteristics in texts that deal with issues related to normativity and will be able to discuss the importance of literature for current legal-political reflection, as well as of the latter for literary theories.
