Course syllabus
This year's course will be dedicated to the theme of common sense and the practices that weave together the "world of life" (to use Husserl's term). We will analyze the thought of several prominent philosophers who have addressed these topics: from Husserl, who discussed them in his final work, The Crisis of European Sciences, defining the task of a new phenomenology; to Peirce, who dedicated several unpublished writings to the subject, clarifying his idea of what pragmatism is; to Wittgenstein, who placed the question at the center of his final work, On Certainty. We will conclude with Michel Foucault and Carlo Sini, who have examined the ethical meaning of the philosophizing self and the necessity of suspending oneself from common way of thinking.

Course syllabus
The present edition of Philosophy of Practices explores, from a theoretical and pragmatist perspective, the role of behaviors, habits, and cultural practices in light of recent developments in human evolution. Contemporary perspectives such as the Extended Evolutionary Synthesis (EES) and multilevel evolution do not simply reformulate classical Darwinism, but radically redefine the role of behavioral and cultural factors in evolutionary processes. The course aims to explore this epistemological shift to rethink, from a genuinely theoretical perspective, the nature and development of the technical, symbolic, and linguistic dimensions that characterize human beings as eminently biocultural.
The first module will focus on the impact of Darwinian theory on philosophical thought and its current epistemological transformations. The analysis will center on the active role of habits and practices in theoretically redefining the very conception of the human within an extended and multilevel evolutionary framework.
The second module will specifically examine the origin, nature, and evolution of technical-cultural behavior and material intelligence, integrating philosophical reflection with the most recent paleoanthropological and archaeological discoveries.
The third module will reflect, from a theoretical perspective, on the status of symbolic behavior and articulated language, delving into the question of their evolution and their pragmatic consequences for human cognition. It will investigate the co-evolution of these behavioral-cognitive dimensions and biological structures in the transition that defines the so-called "human nature."
