Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with the competence and tools to:

1. apply the language skills already acquired in Scandinavian languages and Italian in order to produce translations from Scandinavian languages into Italian;

2. develop advanced linguistic and metalinguistic skills in the source and target languages, with particular attention to aspects such as usage, vocabulary, syntax, linguistic varieties, etc.;

3. develop textual analysis skills for literary texts, taking into account the interdependence and dynamics between publishers, translators and readers;

4. learn about the main characteristics of the publishing market and the translation of Scandinavian literature in Italy, understanding its dynamics, trends and challenges.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will have acquired a solid foundation in order to:

1. analyse texts in Scandinavian languages in order to develop effective translation strategies;

2. translate Scandinavian texts into Italian by critically applying the main theories of translation;

3. consciously exploit their linguistic, literary and translation skills to translate texts from Scandinavian languages into Italian accurately and effectively;

4. be familiar with and proficient in using the most relevant lexicographical tools in the field of professional translation;

5. justify and comment on their translation choices;

6. critically examine Italian translations of Scandinavian texts;

7. enhance their linguistic and translation skills in Scandinavian languages;

8. develop cross-disciplinary skills related to professional figures in the publishing field, with particular attention to areas related to translation and text circulation.
