Learning objectives
- To understand the complexity of environmental phenomena to be taken into account in territorial protection at all levels, from regional to local.
- To evaluate possibilities to manage climate change effects in open public space , from strategic plan to territorial governance action.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end you will have acquired operational skills in territorial planning implementation, at macro and micro urban levels, with particular attention to
- Identifying and understanding the fragility of territorial resources in relation to climatic and environmental emergencies
- Experimenting methods and tools for sustainable spatial planning
- Applying logical and technical knowledge to manage environmental vulnerability in public green spaces design.
- Strengthening operational skills and competences to communicate the results obtained by interacting with different actors, in order to stimulate their collaboration and participation in managing the sustainability of planning processes.

Course syllabus
The workshop develops a highly practical and experiential approach to peri-agricultural planning, involving an intensive three-day activity from 10 am to 6 pm. Focusing on the area of Parco Nord Milano, students will engage in the analysis and green design of a public space and interact with the Park Management to assess ways to address the effects of climate change. The goal is to transform agriculturally degraded areas, ecologically impoverished, into spaces rich in biodiversity and ecosystems.

Teaching methods
The workshop, helding at the end of the second semester, has a highly practical approach and involves group work in order to apply the peri-agricultural planning in an enviromental regeneration context. If you want to participate, it's simple: just register on the exam website. Registration opens at the beginning of the academic year. The laboratory will be offered subject to a minimum enrollment of five students and a maximum enrollment of twenty-four students. If the number of applications exceeds the maximum number of available places, priority will be given to students in the order in which their applications are received.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The final assessment involves the presentation of the completed work, where students will have the opportunity to demonstrate how they have understood and applied the disciplinary tools in the development of the case study. Particular attention will be given to critical and argumentative skills, precision in exposition, and the correct use of urban planning terminology. A 100% attendance rate in all laboratory activities is required for final approval.
