Learning objectives

The course offers both an overview of the main critical theories of visual communication and a more contemporary view of visual analysis and visuality in general. In order to critically understand the central role that visual communication plays in global and local contexts, the course draws on a wide range of examples and case studies from key areas of communication, such as advertising, cinema, stock photography, branding, digital media, and newspapers.
