Lead instructor: Daniele Pedretti
The course takes place over a week and aims to provide advanced knowledge on the mathematical modeling of biochemicals in groundwater systems, with a focus on saturated and fractured porous media. The specific topics that will be addressed include the interaction of water, solutes and solid matrix simulated by multi-component, multi-permeability and multi-porosity reactive transport models, and the calculation of socio-economic and health risk. During the course, examples based on real and synthetic case studies will be addressed. Participants will conduct individual modeling analyzes using their own computer. The course adopts open source software running on Windows XP / 7/8/10 operating system.
