It is expected that by the end of the course the students will be able to formulate a mathematical problem, starting from the geological/geophysical application and ending with a mathematical system of equations through appropriate constitutive modeling assumptions. Following this step, the students should be able to comprehend how this system can be solved in finite elements and interpret the results.
