Thirty-five years after the publication of Augustus und die Macht der Bilder by Paul Zanker (1st ed. 1987), the doctoral lectures aim to investigate the relation between the use of images and the political communication. The topic of images and the "magical" power of object will be analysed, through a multidisciplinary approach, from a philosophical, political and religious point of view. Specific lectures will also describe how the power of images became embedded in the (not exclusively political) communication of human societies.
