The digital humanities have been playing a central role over the last fifteen years, and the use of increasingly refined visualization tools and techniques is establishing itself across several disciplines. The role played by maps and graphs, virtual exhibitions and database documentaries invites a thorough reconsideration of traditional forms of critical discourse. Scholars are challenged to envisage new ways to integrate the verbal and the visual dimensions within a new methodology that combines the heuristic potential of both and that favours new forms of interpretation and communication. With its sound interdisciplinary approach, which meets the demands of our PhD programme, the course aims to offer PhD students a multi-voiced reflection on actual research experience in the field of digital humanities.
