The goal of the course is an introduction to mean curvature flows. After motivating the problem and discussing some instructive examples, we will study some classical results concerning the short-time existence of smooth solutions, their properties, as well as the nature and the size of the set of singularities at the first singular time. Finally, we will discuss some approaches to weak solutions.
Some familiarity with the geometry of hypersurfaces in R^n and the regularity theory for elliptic and parabolic PDE may be helpful.
