Provide the PhD students with the most recent scientific evidence related to nutrition IN THE FIRST 1000 DAYS, this includes during pregnancy, in the neonatal period and for infant and pediatric stages. The role of macro and micro-nutrients during pregnancy, in determining fetal nutrition, growth and development, as well as long-term programming of health and disease will be discussed. Knowledge will be provided about the impact of neonatal nutrition, both with maternal milk and formulas, in normal and pathologic conditions. During the course the basis of nutrition for dietary treatment for selected pediatric diseases, including food allergies, obesity, metabolic syndrome, gastrointestinal disease and inborn error metabolism (IEMs) will be presented.
