The first part of the module will be dedicated to explaining the link between the motor system and the cognitive system. The theoretical paradigms and experimental studies will be illustrated that have demonstrated the connection between sensorimotor areas and higher cognitive processes such as memory and language. Scientific evidence on the effect of sporting activity on cognitive performance in the lifespan will also be presented. In the second part, virtual reality will be introduced and its potential for improving the performance and well-being of the athlete will be illustrated.
