Words and Authors. Considerations and Linguistic Choices Between Literature and Critics

The course intends to analyse a series of representative case-studies, observed in a wide chronological spectrum, from Romanic literatures' origins to contemporary age, which will allow to understand in depth the use of literary language and theoretical conceptions of it. Therefore authors' reflections on language will be analysed, both in terms of personal literary work and thought on the use of language in their own time. In particular, we intend to observe experimental and archaic choices, as well as critics' and audiences' reactions to them.
