This course examines the influential work of American philosopher Wilfrid Sellars in relation to Immanuel Kant. Not only did Sellars develop his own systematic philosophy in close dialogue with Kant, but he also produced significant exegetical writings on Kant's thought. We will explore his major contributions to Kantian scholarship and Kantian-inspired systematic philosophy. In particular, we will focus on three areas: his account of human perception and Kantian intuition; his revisionist interpretation of Kantian categories; and his influential reading of Kant's transcendental idealism. Through these topics, participants will gain a deeper understanding of Kant's philosophy and Sellars's enduring place within the Kantian tradition.
