The course introduces the core ideas and methods of causal inference and discovery, with an emphasis on machine learning-oriented perspectives and connections to modern artificial intelligence. It focuses on distinguishing causation from correlation and estimating causal effects from data. The course covers approaches for estimating treatment effects, along with selected methods from causal machine learning, equipping students with the tools to critically evaluate and apply causal methods in empirical research.
