Language assessment

The University of Milan is an exam centre for a variety of international language certificates.

The University of Milan, thanks to an agreement with Cambridge Assessment English – is a Cambridge Exam Centre (IT998).

The registration is open to internal or external users

How much does it cost?

Rates for students, graduates for up to 12 months, PhD students, grant holders, scholarship holders, post-graduates, teaching staff and non-teaching staff of the University of Milan:

  • Preliminary English Test B1 PET: 88 euro
  • First Certificate in English B2 FCE: 120 euro
  • Certificate Advanced in English C1 CAE: 140 euro
  • Certificate of Proficiency in English C2 CPE: 160 euro

Rates for the general public

  • Preliminary English Test B1 PET: 111 euro
  • First Certificate in English B2 FCE: 174 euro
  • Certificate Advanced in English C1 CAE: 196 euro
  • Certificate of Proficiency in English C2 CPE: 204 euro

How to register

In order to register for a Cambridge  an exam, users have to wait the official announcement that will be able on the website 2 months before the fixed date.

Once the procedure is opened, before making any payments and sending the application, it is strongly recommended to check exam seats availability by writing to esamicambridge@unimi.it.

Refund:
In case of payments made after the deadline or sold out, users can seek refund by contacting esamicambridge@unimi.it.

Please be aware that candidates are eligible for a refund only  if the account holder is the same user of the applicant.

No refund will be entertained once your reservation is confirmed by the exam centre.

Preparation

The University of Milan is not an Exam Preparation Center. Therefore, it does not organize Cambridge exam preparation courses.

It is strongly recommended visit the Cambridge website for preparation materials, sample tests and practice.

Thanks to an agreement with the University for Foreigners of Perugia, the University of Milan is an exam centre for Italian Language Certifications (CELI).

Both internal and external candidates can register for the following exams:

  • CELI Impatto (Level A1)
  • CELI 1 (Level A2)
  • CELI 2 (Level B1)
  • CELI 3 (Level B2)
  • CELI 4 (Level C1)
  • CELI 5 (Level C2)


There are three exam sessions per year.

The cost is € 130.
 

Exam Sessions

There are two six-level CELI exam sessions during the year: a summer session (in June) and an autumn session (in November). Moreover, there is a spring session (in March) for the first four levels. One session per year for immigrants (CELI i) are also available. Visit the www.cvcl.it website for exam dates.
Exams take place simultaneously. Therefore, it is not possible to access more than one level in the same session.

How to register

Please wait for the publication of the call for registrations, which is available on this page about two months before the exam date. 
The call for registrations for the 18 November session is now available, expiring 11 October.

Absent candidates

Any candidates who cannot take the exam because they are sick must submit a medical certificate to justify their absence and can only sit the exam in the very following session at the same centre, without paying the fee. They must in any case submit a regular application within the established deadline.
Any reasons for absence other than sickness, as duly justified, will be evaluated by the CVCL on a case-by-case basis.

Refunds

Any bank transfer payments made after the deadline can be claimed by writing to  esamiceli@unimi.it, provided that the current account from which the transfer was made is in the name of the candidate.

Results

To pass CELI exams, candidates must achieve the minimum score, both in the written and in the oral part, as shown in the relevant descriptions on the www.cvcl.it website.
Candidates who have not passed the written part (consisting of the following sections: Reading Comprehension, Written Production, Linguistic Competence - starting from CELI 3 - and Listening Comprehension) but have passed the oral part, or vice versa, can capitalize their partial result and resit the failed exam part within a year, paying 70% of the total fee.

For the International Certificate of the Russian Language, in the area of daily communication skills and in the economic, legal and social sectors, the University of Milan is a centre for both courses and examinations, thanks to an agreement with the A.S. Puskin Institution, Moscow.

Details of courses offered, costs and registration methods are provided each year in a notice published on the site of the Russian Centre of the university.

The certification in French, "Français des affaires et des professions", is granted by the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de région Paris Ile-de-France (CCI), in the fields of hotel, legal and economic-business communication; the University of Milan is an examination centre.

The exam sessions generally take place in May or June, and registration is accepted up to one month before the exam dates.
