Obiettivi formativi
Acquisition of immunosurveillance and immunoevasion concepts, knowledge of the biological basis of the most tumor escape mechanisms, understanding of the biological rational understanding of the most used approaches for the modulation of the immune response with anti-cancer purposes.
Risultati apprendimento attesi
Specific knowledge on the relationship between the host's immune system and the tumor and the main anti-tumor approaches based on immunomodulatory strategies.

The immune system in the tumor microenvironment:
Inflammation in tumor progression;
Functional role of tumor-associated leukocytes and other host cells;
Immune infiltrate and tumor angiogenesis;
Effects of the tumor on local and systemic immune regulation;
Tumor-associated regulatory T cells;
Tumor-associated suppressor cells of the myeloid lineage (MDSC, TAM, TAN);
Tertiary lymphoid structures in the tumor;
Therapeutic approaches targeting the tumor microenvironment.
