Programma
During the lessons, the following topics will be analyzed:
a) The characteristics of organizational behavior as a field of study and its evolution in digitally transformed workplaces.
b) Perceiving, judging, making sense, and making decisions at the workplace: the role of heuristics, biases, emotions, personal and contextual factors, including how digital tools and AI‑based systems shape sensemaking and decision processes.
c) Understanding, assessing, and managing employee motivation, wellbeing, job performance, and social sustainability within old and new forms of work organization, including remote/hybrid work, platform work, and AI‑mediated workflows.
d) Exploring the role of meaningfulness and dignity in shaping work experiences and in sustaining healthy, human‑centered workplaces.
e) Characteristics of effective international teams: cross‑cultural dynamics, virtual collaboration, and the role of digital technologies in enabling distributed teamwork.
f) The current ethical challenges in managing people at the workplace: data privacy, algorithmic transparency, responsible AI, and the implications of digital monitoring and automation for employees and organizations.
Prerequisiti
Preliminary knowledge of Human Resource management perspectives and practices is required.
Metodi didattici
Teaching methods will include small group problem-solving activities, based on case studies and reading of scientific papers, preparation of group projects, and their presentation to the class.
Materiale di riferimento
Information about the textbook and required readings will be provided at the beginning of the course. Students are invited to consult the 2026/2027 course webpage when the lessons begin.
Modalità di verifica dell’apprendimento e criteri di valutazione
The final exam is a written test with open questions aimed at evaluating: a) in-depth understanding of theoretical and methodological frameworks on individual-level and group-level organizational behavior; b) the ability to apply theoretical and methodological frameworks to analyze organizational/managerial problems and to hypothesize solutions; c) the ability to use the proper disciplinary language.
It lasts for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
