Learning objectives
This course introduces students to the study of the essential lines of the criminal law, with a focus on relevant constitutional principles in the field of criminal law.
The course will cover, also through case studies, Italian laws regarding computer crimes, with particular regard to the crimes added to Italian Criminal Code by law n. 547/1993 and law n. 48/2008.

Criminal law: principles of criminal law (legality, non-retroactivity, culpability); elements of crime; main classes of crimes (crimes of action, crimes of event, crimes of damage, crimes of danger, crimes of omission); justifications; culpability; the system of criminal punishment. Computer criminal law: computer crimes: introduction; computer fraud (art. 640-ter penal code); abuse of payment cards (art. 12 l. 197/1991); computer damage (art. 635-bis, art. 635-ter, art. 635-quater, art. 635-quinquies p.c.); diffusion of programs aimed to damage a computer system (art. 615-quinques p.c.); unauthorized access into a computer (art. 615-ter p.c.); possession and distribution of access codes (art 615-quater p.c.).
