History of International Economic Relations

Learning objectives
The course traces the history of economics and economic policies adopted in Europe and in the most relevant extra-European contexts starting from the Industrial Revolution up to the present days, with particular attention to international economic relations. The main orientations of economic policy, their distinctive characteristics and the results achieved on the short and long term will be analyzed, in the more general context of the most important economic transformations in the European and world history of the last centuries.
The aim of the course is to stimulate students' reflection and independence of judgment on the current policies of economic policy and international economic relations, through the acquisition of: 1. knowledge and ability to understand the fundamental concepts and themes of economic history and economic policies in different spatio-temporal contexts; 2. the ability to interpret datas and informations regarding a given economy or economic policy; 3. the ability to communicate their knowledge in a coherent and organic way, using the terminology and concepts of the discipline.
