Learning objectives
The course's aim is to enable students to grasp the fundamental features both of the international (units 1-2) and the EU legal order (unit 3). The very object of the course will accordingly be represented by the fundamentals of International Law as it is (unit 1), together with an accurate description of the basic interaction patterns among its subjects and actors, with a special focus on intergovernamental organizations as well on the means to make the implementation of International Law more effective, especially within domestic legal orders (unit 2). A monographic unity will be devoted to the study of the process of European integration and the main features of the EU legal order (unit 3).
Throughout the course and with reference to each and every unit, lectures will be delivered in a traditional fashion, enriched with power-point presentations and short videos. Besides from these teaching instruments, specifically thought of in order to facilitate the comprehension of the fundamental notions of the course, further and more advanced learning goals are also envisaged: the analysis of normative texts and relevant case-law will in fact enable students to resort to the basic notions of the course and to apply them in practice, thereby strengthening their comprehension and possess of the main features of International and EU law as well as supporting the acquisition of technical skills to be transferred in their future profession.
Expected learning outcomes
The students who will learn the program and will successfully pass the exam are expected to develop their understanding about the issues taught during the course. They will also develop a wider ability to making judgements and their learning skills. Communication skills will be improved too.
