Learning objectives
Obiettivo del corso è fornire agli studenti le conoscenze e gli strumenti di comprensione necessari a interpretare la politica internazionale e, in particolare, le trasformazioni dell'attuale contesto internazionale. Oltre ai concetti e alle teorie fondamentali della teoria contemporanea delle Relazioni Internazionali, il corso offrirà le competenze e il lessico necessari a ideare e sostenere argomentazioni in modo autonomo su questioni teoriche o di attualità della politica internazionale contemporanea.

The first part will analyse systems theory; the debate between neorealism and neoliberalism, and between rationalist and cognitivist approaches.

The second part will focus on the relationship between international system and international society; the role of ideologies and the difference betweem homogeoneous and heterogeneous international systems; the importance and the transformation of international institutions; the foreign policy analysis.

The third part will focus on the current international system, by addressing such topics as globalization, the changing form of violence and war, the thesis of the "clash of civilizations", and the foreign policy of the main actors, beginning with the United States and Nato.
