4. Drug design: optimizing target interactions and optimizing access to the target

6. Selected topics in medicinal chemistry:
- antibacterial agents with major focus on antibiotics
- anticancer agents
Bioprocesses for drug preparation
Course syllabus
1. Secondary metabolism: physiological role, correlation with primary metabolism, biosynthesis of peptides and poliketides (es. penicillin, tetracycline), gene clusters, regulation of the pathway, strain improvement and case study.
2.Bioprocess scale-up: colture media, bioreactors, batch, fed-batch and continuous processes and products recovery
3. Bioprocesses examples: aminoacids, antibiotics, statines and antitumoral production.
