The course gives an introduction to Fourier Optics, with focus on the main theorems dealing with the transforms with the support of simple lab experiments.
Huygens Fresnel Principle - Diffraction - Diffraction by Ronchi ruling and sinusoidal gratings - plane waves - Diffraction by a slit and corresponding Fourier decomponition - focal plane of a lens - 4f system - Diafragms - resolution of the optical instruments - Fourier filters - Abbe's thery for the image formation - Babinet theorem - interference measurements - principles of holography
