Spanish Ii

The course focuses on political language (module 1) and legal language (module 2) in the Spanish speaking world through the analysis of specialized written and oral texts. In the case of political language, the course provides for the acquisition of linguistic, analytical and interpretative skills in the various forms of political dissemination in the various Spanish-speaking countries. In particular, the argumentation strategies of certain political discourse genres, such as parliamentary debate, press conference, interview, political propaganda, etc., will be analyzed. Legal language, on the other hand, will be approached by means of a translation approach in order to provide students with the ability not only to interpret but also to produce legal texts.
At the same time, the acquisition of the advanced grammatical and syntactic structures of the Spanish language will be promoted up to level C2 of the European Framework, which provides for the domain of oral and written communication in a wide range of specialist topics.

The course aims to enable students to acquire the ability to speak and write in special areas, as well as the ability to critically analyze the textual genres covered. At the end of the course, the student must demonstrate a good oral and written proficiency of the language in complex situations (level C2). In particular, he/she will be able to recognize and analyze the syntactical and lexical structures of a political and legal text and to provide a proper argumentation of the topics analyzed.
