Learning objectives
The course aims to outline a theoretical and historical phenomenology of how the concept of "aesthetic object" has been articulated in the modern world from the phenomenological tradition up to its postmodern determinations, which imply a progressive dissolution.
The course aims to give the student the appropriate general knowledge about the theoretical sense that the object has taken in different modern philosophical perspectives.
Expected learning outcomes
Knowledge:
The course aims to raise students' awareness of the concept of the "aesthetic object" considered in its theoretical dimensions and cultural impacts.

Skills:
Know how to critically read texts and acquire their contents; know how to recognize the different philosophical and interpretive perspectives; know how to express topics in an orderly fashion and with appropriate language. Understand the symbolic value of objects.

The course aims to outline a theoretical and historical phenomenology of how the theme of representation arose, articulating the "culture of objects" in the modern and contemporary world up to the threshold of postmodernity.
Prerequisites for admission
Basic knowledge of the historical-cultural context of the contemporary Aesthetics.
Teaching methods
The topics of the course will be tackled through lectures.
Attendance, although not mandatory, is strongly recommended. Students attending at least two thirds of the lessons are considered to be attending students.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The examination consists of an oral interview on the scheduled subjects. To pass the examination, a sure knowledge of the topics covered during the course is required as well as of the texts indicated. The vote is expressed in 30th.

Erasmus students will have the possibility, if they request so, to take the exam in English, according to a syllabus agreed with the teacher.
The examination arrangements for students with disabilities and/or DSA will have to be agreed with the teacher, in agreement with the DSA office.
