Il corso è mirato all'acquisizione dei fondamentali elementi per l'analisi e la valutazione economica delle trasformazioni ambientali, con particolare riferimento all'analisi costi-benefici riferita a tempi lunghi e alla valorizzazione delle risorse paesaggistiche.

The production system extended to the exchange with the environment. Comparison between the economic productive system and the productive system of the living world. Circular economic system.
Market goods and public goods. Environmental goods and resource allocation. Market failure. Property rights. Concept of externality.
Economic analysis of pollution. Coase theorem. The "polluter pays" principle. Analysis of economic and non-economic instruments for controlling externalities
Economic analysis of natural resources.
The value of the environment. Monetary and non-monetary valuations. Willingness to pay. Total economic value. Economic analysis of investments.
Cost-benefit analysis. Environmental costs and benefits. Evaluation criteria.

There is a written test consisting of three open questions.
