Chemotherapy and Biological Drugs
A.Y. 2019/2020
Learning objectives
The course program includes the teaching of: 1) biochemical and pharmacological properties, production methods and clinical indications for biotechnological drugs; 2) mechanism of action, pharmacology and clinical toxicology of anti-infective, anti-tumor and immunoregulatory chemotherapeutics. The aim of the course is to provide the knowledge on the rational bases for the development and clinical use of these classes of drugs and to contribute to the formation of professionals with the cultural and practical skills necessary for the future occupational opportunities within the health area.
Expected learning outcomes
Students 1) know the mechanisms by which biotechnological and chemotherapeutic drugs act; 2) know the methodologies for the synthesis of biotechnological drugs; 3) are able to predict the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of biotechnological and chemotherapeutic drugs; 4) know the classes of drugs available for the different therapeutic areas; 5) are able to predict adverse reactions associated with the use of biotechnological and chemotherapeutic drugs
