Learning objectives
The course aims to contribute to the training of graduates by providing plant physiology supplements in order to fill their knowledge gaps in the field of plant biology. The characteristics that differentiate a plant cell from an animal will be explained to the students and the concepts of sessility will be introduced in order to understand their evolutionary adaptations. A goal of the course will also be to provide basic information for understanding the photosynthetic process.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student will acquire:
Knowledge of the plant cells' structure.
Knowledge of ion transport mechanisms across cell membranes.
Knowledge of water transport mechanisms and the regulation of the transpiration.
Knowledge of the structure of chloroplasts and the molecular mechanisms of photosynthesis.
Knowledge of transport of photosynthates through vascular tissues.
Knowledge of the mechanisms of perception of environmental stimuli and responses to stress.
Knowledge of the main plant hormones and their role in the regulation of development processes and responses to environmental stresses.
