Learning objectives
The course aims to bring students to the main socio-cultural dynamics of Latin American modernity. The use of the various textual and audiovisual materials should foster critical thinking through the problematization of a complex and composite reality.
Expected learning outcomes
Basic knowledge of multiple cultural aspects - literature, visual art, music - featuring the contemporary Latin America scene. The application of the theory and practice of Cultural Studies in socio-historical and linguistic contexts, allows to realize autonomous paths in specific aspects of the Hispanic modernity.

Course syllabus
Linguistic, geohistorical and ethnocultural Introduction of the Latin American subcontinent, articulated in three parts: the Spanish of America, the Latin American news and a case study: the tango and the Italian emigration in Argentina.
Prerequisites for admission
Adequate basic historical-cultural preparation, acceptable reading capacity and critical reworking, discreet domain of oral and written communication.

Assessment methods and Criteria
Oral examination with the aim of verifying the capacity of Latin American spatial-temporal orientation, attention to the current situation, personal reading and reflection on the topics provided during the lessons and in any case present both in the bibliographic material and in the one loaded on the Ariel platform.
