Learning objectives
This course aims at analysing and interpreting key texts of the German Literature of following literary tendencies: Aufklärung, Empfindsamkeit, Sturm und Drang, Weimarer Klassik and Romantik. It approaches texts and authors with particular regard to the development of the different genres and on the background of introductions to the literary periods. It also offers the possibility to develop skills for the textual analysis of prose, poetry and drama of above mentioned tendencies.
Expected learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding: essential features of German Literature between 1730 and 1840; fundamental texts, key authors and development of the genres.
Applying knowledge and understanding: ability to read and contextualize the main works of German Literature from Aufklärung to Romantik; skills in individual texual analysis of important texts, including the ability of recognising German versification by the poetry; ability to contextualise authors in an era or a movement; capacity to recognise affinities and differences among literary texts and to explain the peculiarities of literary genres.

The course (60 hours) is held in the second term and provides 9 ECTS. It is not possible to acquire only 6 ECTS.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The examination, which can be held in Italian or German, as the student prefers, consists in an interview about the studies material aiming at verifying the knowledge of the contents (both literary and methodological ones) and the capacity to analyse a text. Before the interview there will be a written test (30 minutes, for possible examples see Ariel), which will be worth 25% of the final grade. The interview will be worth 75% of the final grade.
The finale grade will be evaluated in thirtieths.
International students or incoming Erasmus students are invited to contact the teacher as soon as possible. The examination procedures for students with disabilities and/or with DSA must be agreed with the teacher, in agreement with the competent office.
