Italian Language Workshop
A.Y. 2019/2020
Learning objectives
The aim of the workshop is to consolidate writing competences in respect to argumentative texts. The course is focused on the production of formal texts (for example professional texts); on the logical and semantic connections between sentences; on the appropriate lexicon in a specific context; on the capability to select and to expose appropriately a thesis; finally, on the capability to communicate efficaciously. Such autonomous capabilities of the students will be developed and tested with practical exercises and writing papers.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the workshop the students should have acquired an informed applied knowledge of Italian language, more specifically in respect to: competent use of textual cohesives of a written or oral argumentative text; appropriate language style in different communicative situations; capability to write a brilliant formal, informal, popular or academic text.
Lesson period: Activity scheduled over several sessions (see Course syllabus and organization section for more detailed information).

The topics addressed during the course will be the following:
1) What is a text;
2) Differences between written and spoken;
3) Coherence and cohesion of a text;
4) The information structure of the statements: the word order and the marked syntax;

Italian language: native speaker or level C1
Teaching methods
Frontal lessons.
Attendance at the laboratory is compulsory.
Each edition is open to a limited number of students. During the academic year, several workshops will be organized.

The exam is written and consists in the preparation of a short informative-expository or argumentative text.
