Learning objectives
The goal of this course it to introduce the technical aspects of digital publishing including the different formats and the adopted technologies
Expected learning outcomes
Fundamental knowledge on the basics of publishing and its evolution towards digital publishing. Advanced understanding of the digital tools and methodologies for digital publishing. Critical analysis on the relations between the different communications channels, way to convey message contents and the modality of fruition.

Course syllabus
The course initially focused on Digital publishing building blocks elements, including images, video and audio, and how they can be suitable for the needs of digital publishing. Typography, fonts and the use of white spaces are than deeply analyzed, including their origin and the evolution connected to the digital publishing. The principal digital publishing formats and tools will be than analysed in detail with special emphasis the principal eBook formats and the relative production tools. Finally, trend and new technology will be investigated, both for their application to printed and electronical digital publishing.

Prerequisites for admission
This course, being focused in digital publishing and in particular to web and ebook formats, requires basic web programming skills including HTML and CSS. It is recommended to have successfully passed the "Applicazioni Web e Cloud" exam before joining this course.
Teaching methods
For the teaching, a laboratory where PCs are available is used in order to do exercises when needed.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam is based on a digital publishing project, selected among the suggested ones in the course web page or agreed in advanced with the teacher. The project will be evaluated in an oral presentation where the acquired competences in digital publishing will be evaluated as well. The examination vote is expressed in thirtieths and refers to the project quality and complexity, and the level of the skills acquired during the course.
