Learning objectives
The course aims to illustrate to the student the information and practical contents to understand and manage dog's main ecto- and endo-parasites. The course will also focus on operational strategies contributing to the hygiene and environmental prevention of the parasitic transmission in the breeding farm, and to the improvement of cohabitation between humans and dogs
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the students will have knowledge about the parasite dynamics and control measures  in  dog farming, and will gain practical experiences and communication skills regarding laboratory and field monitoring of parasites in dog breeding farms

FRONTAL LESSONS.
Canine parasites: biology and epidemiology (4 hours)
Host-parasite interaction and immunoparasitology of companion animals (4 hours)
Parasites of zoonotic concern in the canine breeding (4 hours)
Parasitosis in canine breeding: hygiene and prevention (4 hours)
PRACTICAL ACTIVITIES.
Ecto- and endo-parasites: morphology and monitoring techniques (8 hours)
Parasitological monitoring and hygiene in communities and breeding facilities (8 hours)

No particular prerequisites are needed.

Assessment methods and Criteria
One written exam with multiple-choice questions. The exam aims at ascertaining the acquisition, correct understanding and ability to rework the course content.
