Sports Sociology and Psychology: Cultural Processes and Communication

Learning objectives
The course provides for critical reflection on sports in its cultural context, the values and motives for engaging in it. The objective is to form a professional figure able to confront the needs of sports in continuous evolution, to see beyond results, and to hold a broader view of sports in its value system, and its educational, human, and social dimensions. The course includes topics in competition and physical activity, body care, leisure, and wellness. Consistent with recent research in sports psychology, the course explores the topic of mindfulness in sports.
Expected learning outcomes
Students will acquire skills and tools for evaluating and interacting in diverse sports settings: elite competition, basic sports, physical activity, fostering motivation, identifying and protecting talent.

The process of building modern sport: history and genesis of global sport
Social psychology in sport: interpersonal relationships and dynamics that structure the different sports contexts
Motivation and other constructs in sport.
Passion and talent in sport.
Cognitive and social processes in sport.

Prerequisites for admission
The student must have acquired study skills and scientific in-depth study of the subjects in question, he must also have acquired autonomous training design skills for different age groups and in different contexts.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam consists of a compulsory written test plus a group report / essay on topics of interest.
