Learning objectives
The course aims to introduce the teaching of the German language as a foreign language. After a theoretical introduction to the methodological concepts of teaching German as a foreign language (u.d. A), the various linguistic structures of German as a foreign language L2 and their representation in German as a foreign language manuals will be addressed. We will discuss the various methods and social forms for effective teaching of communicative competence in a foreign language (U.D. B).
The course includes lectures, seminar activities (group work) and moments of blended learning on a moodle platform. (6cfu)
In addition, the student can carry out a teaching stage in a secondary school (3cfu). The student is required to plan and carry out a short teaching unit and analyze its educational effectiveness.

Expected learning outcomes
Knowledge
At the end of the course the student knows the teaching methods and principles of a foreign language in general and of German L2/L3 in particular, he will be able to recognize the learning processes of German L2/L3 for native Italian speakers and to describe the language structures of German as a foreign language and the communication processes (context, language skills, communication skills, etc.). He can also plan and structure a German lesson L2/L3
Competences
The student acquires the following skills:
- analysis of the possible implications for the teaching of the phonological, morphological and syntactic structures of the German language to Italian-speaking learners.
- programming of short teaching units and analysis of the processes of teaching German L2/L3 in the classroom.
- secure mastery of tools and aids such as dictionaries, grammars, computer platforms for teaching German.

The course is entitled Didaktik Deutsch als Fremdsprache and is divided into three teaching units:
Teaching unit A (20 hours, 3 cfu): Einführung in die Didaktik für Deutsch als Fremdsprache
Teaching unit B (20 hours, 3 cfu): Deutsch als fremde Sprache
Teaching unit C (20 hours, 3 cfu): Praktikum (Curricular internship in a secondary school)
The course is aimed at students of the Master's Degree Course. The course introduces the teaching of German as a foreign language with particular reference to the teaching of language structures to native Italian speakers.
After a theoretical introduction to the methodological concepts of L2 German language teaching, the various linguistic structures of L2 German and their representation in the manuals of German as a foreign language will be dealt with. We will discuss the various methodologies and social forms for an effective teaching of communicative competence in a foreign language.
In addition, the student can do an internship in a first or second grade high school (3cfu). The student is required to plan and carry out a short teaching unit and analyse its teaching effectiveness. A written report is provided at the end of the internship. The subject of the teaching unit and the date of delivery of the written report must be agreed in good time with the teacher.
Students interested in acquiring 6 cfu will follow the program of the didactic units A and B; students interested in acquiring 9 cfu will have to do a didactic internship in a school.
The course program is valid until February 2021.

Prerequisites for admission
The course is held entirely in German, the examination materials and bibliography presuppose a sure proficiency in the German language (B2-C1 level of the CEFR is strongly recommended).
Teaching methods
The course includes lectures, seminar activities (group work) and blended learning on a moodle platform. (6cfu) The moodle course is an interactive course that involves the active collaboration of the participants, so the teacher provides the access key to the course only and exclusively at the beginning of the semester.

Oral: (6cfu): The oral test consists of an interview on the scheduled topics, aimed at assessing the knowledge and skills acquired during the course. The grade is expressed in thirtieths. The student who chooses the online mode of the course (on the moodle DLL platform) and does all the exercises on the moodle platform can be exempted from the oral exam. The score on the platform (expressed in hundredths) is converted into thirtieth.
