Learning objectives
The teaching workshop deals with the main problems of the translation of ancient greek theatre, focusing in particular upon the performance and the staging. The students will be directed to pay attention to the oral and performative perspective of ancient theatrical texts.
Expected learning outcomes
Theoretical knowledge of the problems of translation; practical skill to distinguish the different kinds of translations in the particular perspective of the staging.

Course syllabus
After some frontal lessons about the problems of translating and about the text of Aristophanes' Clouds, the results of the team works of the students, who will propose translations of different scenes, will be presented.
Prerequisites for admission
Knowledge of ancient greek is requested.

Frontal lessons; team works by the students.
Teaching Resources
The reference editions of the texts will be provided by the teacher.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The regular attendance by the students as well as the results of the their work will be verified.
