Teaching Workshop
A.Y. 2019/2020
Learning objectives
The aim of the workshop is to give students direct experience on a concrete work of historical research and to provide them with methodological tools about the use of bibliographic, archigraphic and iconographic sources for research into the social and cultural history of the Soviet Union between 1953 and 1991.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the cycle of lessons, the student will have acquired knowledge of the main types of sources of social and cultural history and the main tools of research. They will be able to navigate the documentation of the modern age, specifically the social and cultural history of the Soviet Union through sources available in Italian and English. They will then be able to set up research work on the post-Stalinist Soviet Union thanks to the continuous exercise of assessing sources and their critical use, carried out together with the instructor throughout the course at various centers of document repositories in Milan.
These skills will be acquired through constant discussion with the instructor during the lessons. Discussions and debates on the topics will be addressed in such a way as to make the workshop a truly formative and participatory path of study
Students unable to attend will be able to take advantage of the instructor's advice regarding insights and readings on the topics covered in the lesson, as well as contact the instructor by email for any eventuality.
